About This Bundle Pack
This is the bundled value pack for the Sennheiser DW Pro1 headset with handset lifter. It includes the headset, base station and matching handset lifter at a discounted price, to save you money! p>
How does this lifter work?
Designed for Sennheiser wireless headsets, the HSL10 handset lifter connects under your phone’s hand piece like a robotic cradle. When the phone rings, your headset will beep in your ear. You simply hit the button on the side of your headset and this sends a signal to the robotic cradle to lift the hand piece up. This then accepts the call and you start to talk through the headset. To hang-up, you simply hit the button on your headset again and the cradle puts the hand piece back. In this way you can answer and hang up on calls away from your desk when using a wireless headset. The Sennheiser model is unique amongst lifters in that it can be programmed to recognise 2 different ring tones. What does this mean? Well if your phone has one tone for internal and one for external calls, even when your phone display is out of sight you can be sure you’re answering with the appropriate greeting (top tip – this is never ‘yeah whaddyawant’). Remember, however, that the lifter will not let you perform any other phone function like transfer or conference. It purely provides a convenient way to take calls from anywhere in the office without having to return to your desk. Some modern phones require a different solution called an Electronic Hook Switch or ‘EHS’. If you’re not sure what kind of lifter your phone needs, give us a call, we’re here to help!
In the words of Tina Turner, the latest Sennheiser DW Office Pro 1 ML wireless headset is ‘simply the best’. One of 3 brilliant DW models in the latest Sennheiser lineup, it’s both an office and computer headset and does each task magnificently. Unlike the standard Sennheiser DW Office, the Pro 1 ML is designed to be a little more rugged and comes with ultra noise cancelling for very loud environments. If that’s not important then the DW Office is a better bet for your money.
As a company we’re proud to be able to offer DW range to our clients and we challenge anyone to find a better headset range. Plantronics had dominated the market for such a long time but you can certainly argue that with the DW Office range, Sennheiser is the new heavyweight champion of the wireless headset world. The headphone and microphone gurus at Sennheiser have used their 60 years of audio experience and R&D to create headset perfection. As we always say, the golden rule of headsets is to buy the best you can afford and, we hope your boss has given you the ok to buy any model in the new DW range.
So let’s start by reviewing…
The Good
It’s not so much ‘the good’ in this instance as ‘the great’. We may sound biased but the Simply Headsets staff can choose to use any headset they want, and since its release, more than 70% of our team use this model in particular oOur lovely receptionist and a couple of others use the DW Office, the rest we suspect must have been too busy so far to change!). That said, we challenge you to find a better sounding, faster charging, more intelligent, feature-packed headset – because we know we can’t.
The range is up to a staggering 180 metres and the ultra noise cancelling will amaze you (background noise is a thing of the past). The durable style is tailor-made for call centres and other environments where people treat headsets badly (often because they didn’t have to pay for them).
To start off, the HD voice clarity is brilliant. If you’re on the phone all day you’ll know that the clearer the sound, the longer you can listen. HD is like 3D for your ears! This feature is also a must if you’ll be using your headset on the computer, as it makes the DW Office Pro 1 ML a great headset for SKYPE, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Dragon Dictate or any other voice recognition software.
A little secret is…
…because the Sennheiser DW Pro 1 ML can connect to your computer, you can listen to any music on your computer through the headset. It’s great for boring days in the office or to simply give you some tunes to listen to. As soon as a call comes in the music stops, and after the call it starts again. Genius! Audiophiles please note this headset is optimised for voice communications, not music, so you won’t get the normal Sennheiser quality sound when listening to your tunes, but it’s still fine to bop out to.
The Sennheiser DW Pro 1 ML is an over the head style headset. If you want the option of wearing over the ear go for the DW Office. How about this for clever; If you’re training someone, all you need to do is get yourself a second DW headset (you can buy these without a base station and save $$$). Simply place the headset to the base and it automatically conferences both headsets to the call. The same feature also works if you have multiple users sharing the same phone (eg. sharing a reception desk). When one user is finished they dock their headset and put it on charge, while the other simply starts their shift by ‘touching’ their headset to the base, which automatically pairs the two devices. This is simply brilliant for medical offices, hot desk situations and any other job that involves sharing duties, because no-one really wants to share a headset! The headset even comes with a little area that can have a name tag, so headsets can’t be accidentally mistaken. If the desk is in use constantly, call us to discuss the best way to keep the batteries charged up.
The super fast charge is SO handy when (not if) you forget to dock it overnight. Most headsets take an hour or more to charge to 50% but with a DW in just 20 minutes you’ll have enough battery to see you up to lunchtime. The DW Pro 1 ML has a 12-hour talk time (or 8 hours on high quality wideband), so even the heaviest user won’t run out of juice. Like the vast majority of Sennheiser products, this headset features ActiveGuard technology to make it G616-compliant. G616 is an Australian OH&S guideline created to protect phone users from loud, potentially harmful noises. These ‘acoustic shocks’ are transmitted down phone lines as a result of electricity spikes, weather conditions, transmission faults and the like. Failure to comply with G616 guidelines can result in fatigue, anxiety or temporary/permanent hearing loss, but Sennheiser’s ActiveGuard means you’ll be protected whenever you are using your headset.
The Not-So-Good
If you’re planning to use this headset to listen to music or movies, please note: If you’re an audio-file you’ll notice that movies and music are not up to the normal Sennheiser standard. This headset is designed for voice communications. The requirements for CD/DVD quality music are very different to that of a headsets used predominantly for voice. The music sound quality is OK to bob along to but you won’t be blown away by the clarity.
There is very little negative to say about this product. However, if you want to get the most from this headset you’ll need to fully read the instruction manual. But don’t worry, it’s straightforward and easy to understand and our friendly staff are just a phone call away. The only thing the Pro 1 ML doesn’t do is work with your mobile phone. If you’re after a headset that caters for your mobile phone as well then the latest Savi 700 series is excellent. However, it is very important to note that the 710, 720, 730 or ,740 will not work with your mobile phone when outside of the office. If you are after a headset that works when you’re on the go too then you simply must check out the Jabra Motion Office ML
The Verdict
The Sennheiser DW Pro1 ML is an almost unbeatable headset. The only reason you would upgrade to the DW Pro 2 ML is if you want a binaural (2-ear) wearing style. The only real downside to this product is we know not every boss will spend just a little more to buy this productivity enhancing, brilliant headset. We hope that’s not the case for you.
Other Headsets To Consider Before Buying
Don’t want to go with a Sennheiser? Another worthy contender is the latest Jabra Pro 9470. It’s an excellent unified communications option with office+ computer + mobile phone. It offers a sexy touch screen and is brilliant in its own right. Alternatively, Plantronics fans are raving about the latest Savi W710. Our staff tend to think they simply don’t have the flair or style of the DW range. What they do offer is the same UC capabilities of the Jabra above. If you’re on a tight budget the Jabra Pro 9450 is worth a look to work with deskphone + PC. At this level of quality you’ll be over the moon no matter which option you select.
